(Resolved) Pentaho Data Integration & Analytics - Insufficiently Protected Credentials - Versions before 10.2.0.0 and 9.3.0.8 Impacted (CVE-2024-37362)

Overview 

The product transmits or stores authentication credentials, but it uses an insecure method that is susceptible to unauthorized interception and/or retrieval. (CWE-522)

 

Products Affected 

Pentaho Data Integration & Analytics versions before 10.2.0.0 and 9.3.0.8

 

Description 

Pentaho Data Integration & Analytics versions before 10.2.0.0 and 9.3.0.8 discloses database passwords when saving connections to RedShift.

 

Impact 

Products must not disclose sensitive information without cause. Disclosure of sensitive information can lead to further exploitation

 

Action  

We recommend you upgrade to the Pentaho version 10.2 release, or later, where this issue is addressed. For version 9.3 we recommend updating to Service Packs 9.3.0.8 or above where this vulnerability is addressed.
