Overview 

The software performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action, but it does not correctly perform the check. This allows attackers to bypass intended access restrictions. (CWE-863)

 

Products Affected 

Hitachi Vantara Pentaho Business Analytics Server versions before 9.3.0.0, 9.2.0.4 and 8.3.0.27 are impacted.

 

Description 

Hitachi Vantara Pentaho Business Analytics Server versions before 9.3.0.0, 9.2.0.4 and 8.3.0.27 does not correctly perform an authorization check in the dashboard editor plugin API.

 

Impact 

When access control checks are incorrectly applied, users can access data or perform actions that they should not be allowed to perform. This can lead to a wide range of problems, including information exposures and denial of service.

 

Action  

The defect can be addressed right now by removing the dashboard editor plugin.


We recommend you upgrade to the latest Hitachi Vantara Pentaho Business Analytics Server release or service pack where this defect is fixed.
