Hitachi Vantara Pentaho Business Analytics Server - performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action, but it does not correctly perform the check. This allows attackers to bypass intended access restrictions. (CWE-863)
Hitachi Vantara Pentaho Business Analytics Server versions before 126.96.36.199 and 188.8.131.52, including 8.3.x are impacted.
Hitachi Vantara Pentaho Business Analytics Server versions before 184.108.40.206 and 220.127.116.11, including 8.3.x expose dashboard prompts to users who are not part of the authorization list.
When access control checks are incorrectly applied, users can access data or perform actions that they should not be allowed to perform. This can lead to a wide range of problems, including information exposures and denial of service.
We recommend you upgrade to the latest Hitachi Vantara Pentaho version 9.4 release with Service Pack 18.104.22.168. For version 9.3 we recommend updating to Service Packs 22.214.171.124 or above where this vulnerability is addressed.
Please review the Pentaho End-of-Life policy to ensure you are up to date.
